See more about 'rare 1930s art deco dunhill 14k gold handy lighter' Description offered is a fabulous 1936 alfred dunhill 14k gold petrol fuel handy pocket lighter. the dunhill lighter features a hand cut modernistic deco wide engine turned body design. this is a rare version new york made dunhill handy which was first invented in 1936 by leon bolle of switzerland. the handy model uses an unusual flint system where a slide lever is pushed inward to release flint chamber which swings out. alfred dunhill of london contracted precious metal dunhills to be manufactured in new york -london - paris - germany and switzerland. i  believe that new york dunhills were jeweler made by a madison avenue workshop. since american lighters do not have to be hallmarked - it is difficult to pinpoint which workshop was used in new york as the lighters only bear the dunhill name. the gold lighter measures 2" tall and is in excellent lite used condition. the mechanism will work with proper service of fuel and flint. the lighter is original - complete and wonderful to hold in your hand. quality vintage unusual 14k gold dunhill lighters are strong investments and will surely increase in value as many new collectors abound. overall - a rare and important 1930's new york made solid gold art deco modern handy dunhill lighter. few gold new york handys were produced and this version is missing from most serious dunhill collections.  insurance included in usa priority registered ship-overseas is registered first class airmail. ship to italy via registered or express mail only.
