Russian Painting by Vladimir Igoshev Start Price USD 49,000.00 Current Price USD 49,000.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, August 18, 2008 End Time Thursday, August 28, 2008 Location Excelsior, MN See more about 'Russian Painting by Vladimir Igoshev' Description Vladimir Igoshev was an important artist in Russia during the middle to late 20th century, bestowed with the honor and title "People's Artist of the USSR" one of the highest honors an artist could receive during the period.  He spent much of his time traveling to Siberia and capturing images of the indigenous inhabitants there -  the Mansi and Khanty people.  This is documented in the book Socialist Realist Painting, which was written by Matthew Cullerne Bown, the world's foremost authority on the subject of Socialist Realist Painting (also commonly referred to as Russian Impressionism).  I had the opportunity to work with Matthew and helped him with the arduous task of acquiring photographs of paintings from U.S. art collectors that were to be used in the book.
