Description
PRESIDENT REAGAN WRITES TO KITTY CARLISLE HART: “I’M NOT VERY PROUD OF TODAY’S HOLLYWOOD – OR BROADWAY…WE ALSO MADE LIFE A LITTLE MORE PLEASANT FOR ALL THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF HOLLYWOOD AND BROADWAY” RONALD REAGAN (1911-2004). Reagan was the Fortieth President. KITTY CARLISLE HARTB (1910-2007). A talented entertainer, Hart appeared with the Marx Brothers in A Night At The Opera and was on the television show To Tell The Truth. She was married to the playwright Moss Hart. TLS. 1pg. 6 ¾” ” x 9”. February 28, 1986. Washington. A typed letter signed “Ron” as President to Kitty Carlisle Hart: “It was great to hear from you, and I’m more than happy that you didn’t object to my story about Moss. You are right about ‘those times’ and laughter. I don’t know about you, but I’m not very proud of today’s Hollywood – or Broadway for that matter. We did have fun, but we also made life a little more pleasant for all the people outside of Hollywood and Broadway. Sincerely Ron”. The letter is on “The White House” letterhead and comes with the original envelope. The envelope was once stored against the letter and there is some browning to the letter, but it mostly misses the text and completely misses the dark signature.
