Start Price USD 7,775.00 Current Price USD 7,775.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, August 18, 2008 End Time Monday, August 25, 2008 Location West Henrietta, New York See more about 'New York Worlds Fair 1939 CGC 6.5 1 st Sandman Superman' Description Being offered for sale is a copy of New York World's Fair 1939 CGC 6.5 Fn+.  As far as golden age key issues go, this is one of the tougher ones to find.  (It has less copies graded than Superman 1, and only a few more copies graded than Action 1 & Detective 27!)  Because of the unstable cardboard covers used to make this book, it is especially difficult to find in high grade.  (Which may be why Overstreet does not even list a guide value for this comic above 9.0)   In fact, this CGC 6.5 is actually the 4th highest graded copy on the CGC census, with only 2 7.0s and 1 9.0 grading  higher.This comic was published in April 1939 and contains the first appearance of the Sandman.  (Yes, this comic hit the stands prior to Adventure #40!)  It also contains the only appearance of a blond Superman.  (Superman was so new at the time that Vincent Sullivan who drew the cover for this comic didn't know what color his hair was supposed to be!)  This comic also contains work by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Fred Guardineer, Bob Kane, and Craig Flessel!!!
