Description
Chkalovite w/ Tugtupite Veining New find 2008 - amazing patterns and contrast w/ a pastel palette So far, each year we’ve visited the Ilimaussaq Complex we make at least one new find. This year we made several. This is one of the major finds this summer from high on the Taseq Slope. The primary mineral is chkalovite - fluorescence ranging from blue to green, with delicate veins of bright red tugtupite throughout. Towards the outer boundaries there are areas of bright orange FL sodalite topping off a display of color unique to this variety. At the top is an area of green fluorescence from a yet unidentified mineral (could be chkalovite also, but there seems to be a definite zoning between the blue FL chkalovite and the green material). The pastel colors that dominate this piece create yet another new color combination from this very prolific area on the Taseq Slope.
