"Knock, Knock"This cel is an original work of art created by Walter Lantz Studios.   It is hand-inked and painted from the actual drawing made by the animator for a cartoon called Knock, Knock.  Woody's appearance changed many times over the years.  This first model of Woody was immediately modified after the films release, making the original image a particularly unique and valuable item.  He has never been more colorful than the brilliant artwork of this rare, early model of the character.  It perfectly captures the vitality of Walter Lantz's creative vision.  The same handcraft techniques are used as for the original production.  The lines of the animator's pencil drawing are hand-inked by an artist who traces the lines on a celluloid sheet.  After that another artist meticulously paints every color on the reverse side of the cel.  This is number 43 of a limited edition of 200 hand-inked and painted cels personally signed by the creator, Walter Lantz.  Short for celluloid, the cel is the basic element of all animation films.  Every second of full animation requires 24 individual painted cels to be photographed one at a time over an original painted background.  An artist's pencil drawing is transferred directly to the cel in current animation style and then hand-painted by artists from the Lantz studios. This cel is made by the same technique used by all Walter Lantz animation, a process no longer used due to its cost.  Animation cels are getting hard to get now days because just about everything is done on computers now.  RARE ONLY 200 ISSUED!!The cel is matted not framed.
