Description
Genuine Diamond Guaranteed -Classic Collectibles-eBig Lot Of Thirty-SevenOriginal Antique Vanity Fair Lithographs 1869-1910Portraits of Victorian Clergymenby Spy", "Ape", etc.Approximate Sizes- 10 1/2" x 15" eNO DUPLICATES Vanity Fair was published in England from 1869 to 1914, and is unrelated to the later American magazine of the same name. This magazine had articles about the royal family, fashions of the day, and the weekly news, but the highlight of each issue was a color caricature of a well-known person. These figures ran the gamut from politicians to businessmen, doctors and scientists, judges and writers, generals and musicians, actors, sports personalities, and royalty, to name a few.  This lot of thirty-seven original Vanity Fair lithographs is a virtual cornucopia of men of the cloth from the Victorian Age.  The portraits span the gamut from lay preachers to Anglican Bishps, the Archbishop of Canterbury, two Popes, and even a neo-pagan Druid at Stonehenge. Many were drawn by Vanity Fair's top caricaturists, Leslie Ward, a.k.a. "Spy", and Carlo Pellegrini, a.k.a. "Ape". This is an unusual opportunity to purchase a large lot of these original antique chromo-lithographs, all in the same category, at an incredible price. Note that each portrait is unique and there are no duplicates. The normal retail price for the prints in this lot ranges from $25 to $100 PER PIECE.The average condition of this lot is Fine/Very Fine.  Almost all of the prints are suitable for framing, and many come with the original page of biographical text from the magazine.Emporio Leopardo's eBay store currently has a large and growing collection of original Vanity Fair lithographs at discounted prices, including a number that are particularly rare and hard to find.
