Description
1825 Letter Original 1825 letter addressed to "Hon. Michael Hoffman, Member of Congress." Middle paragraph refers to the Erie Canal and New York Governor DeWitt Clinton: "How goes canalling? I observed some time since in Seymour's paper a calculation of the cost of the route from Herkimer to the St. Lawrence; which I laid to your charge. Let the author be who he may, tell him he 'cannot catch old birds with chaff.' Canalling used to be more expensive when Noah said 'Mr. Clinton would stand or fall with the Canal.'" Good condition, blemishes and smudges as seen. See shipping calculator below for shipping costs. Visit my Ebay store for more political ephemera.
