You are bidding on a SCARCE, vintage, METAL Scandinavian Airlines Air System Douglas DC10-30 Travel Agency Airplane Display Model.  This model represents a real aircraft, registration (tail number) LN-RKA, christened the "Olav Viking" and delivered to SAS in July, 1952.  There are some great pictures of the real airplane on the web at http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=LN-RKA&distinct_entry=true. Although slightly yellowed from age, this GORGEOUS jetliner desktop model is ALL ORIGINAL with GREAT paint and decals with almost no nicks at all!   Please see pics.  This passenger jet transport model is LARGE and made from HEAVY METAL, measuring about 22 inches long!    The base is the ORIGINAL METAL STAND. Definitely for the advanced collector who appreciates the very best condition models! The model maker's label is on the belly of this model.  Fermo, of Denmark, was one of the very best modelmakers, along with Verkuyl, FOM, Douglas, Allyn, Osgaard, Mecator, Raise Up, Pacific Miniatures, Vogelaar, Riffe, Topping, Westway, Bronzart and the others that were famous back in the 1950's and 1960's.  Grumman, Lockheed, Northrop, Bell, North American Aviation, Martin, NASA, GODDARD, General Dynamics, Convair, Boeing and McDonnell all had promo desktop and factory display models made to give to officers, VIPs and other customers. Contractors models were also made for the US Air Force, National Guard, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Space and ashtray models were also made in plastic and wood to promote their products.  And of course the airlines utilized all these promotional products in their offices and their travel agency networks.
