Description
Presidential appointment signed by John F. Kennedy and Secretary of State Dean Rusk on 12 May 1962. Document, measuring 20" x 16", appoints Dr. Walter Johnson of Illinois as a member of the United States Advisory Commission on International Education and Cultural Affairs. Stamped with a fully intact official seal and expertly framed. Historian and progressive politician Thomas "Walter" Johnson got his start in national politics making stump speeches for Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940. While on Advisory Commission, Johnson earned widespread recognition when he authored "American studies abroad: progress and difficulties in selected countries; a special report by Walter Johnson." Document signed by JFK in fine condition.
