The offering in this listing features a spectacular handmade jacket. Now there is a story behind this jacket. A friend of mine was well traveled, even a tour guide. I was kind of a recluse at the time, and never had been out of the USA. He suggested I follow him to England, his home, and we could play in many chess clubs. So I did, but later his friend who was a pilot wanted to fly to Greece. I had a great time in England, but had no idea to go to Greece, so instead, I decided to head to Bangkok alone. Back in the 1980s it was quite a different place. There was all kinds of fine things to spend money on. At the time, I lived not far from Castro street in SF where I did a lot of clothes shopping. I bought some kind of fancy French leather jacket that was very soft, and I totally worn it out. It was my idea to remake something similar to it in Thailand. Thus I did it. It was made from 9 complete natural lizzard skins. At that time, it was about $500 to make. A year later I went back to Bangkok and asked the same person to make pants. They wanted $1400. So I did not make pants to match. About this tiem also, there was people throwing paint in protest  against people wearing skins and fur coats. So I was actually afraid to wear it out, plus I did not want to hurt the jacket. Well, thats the story. Almost 25 years have past now and I never wore it, and keep it in my collection of items collected from Asia. This jacket should fit size 40-42. It was custom made for me and that was my size at that time. The skins are perfect. The jacket has been in storage for years and is as new as the day I made it. It came from Siam Bootery, not far from the Nari hotel, and the original label shows all this.  What is its value today? I am not sure. I have seen nothing like it here in the shops, and I don't think it can be made today. I see very few lizzard belts around today, and they are expensive compared to those days.
