Her combined service in WWII and later in Vietnam brought her two Presidential Unit Citations, and 15 battle stars. In 1968, the Yorktown made history of another kind by recovering the crew of Apollo 8, following the first manned orbit of the moon. This impressive 1:48 scale model of the U.S.S.Yorktown is painstakingly crafted by hand in solid mahogany and hand-painted in authentic camouflage. Mounted on a polished hardwood base, this superlative model is hand-numbered and bears a commemorative plate signed by Rear Admiral (ret.) James W. Condit.
