A record price for one of these beauties was the sale of 250 GTO S/N 3909 to Kato in Japan for $13,837,500. Years of research by the authors have resulted in the most thorough study of the GTO ever printed. The 1st chapter – “Evolution of the 250 GT Series” covers the 250 family tree, starting with the Gioacchino Colombo and Aurelio Lampredi designed V12 engines, then traces the model’s development, both on and off the track. The 2nd chapter – “Design and Development” recounts history from the 250 SWB up to the GTO’s first race at Sebring, 1962. The 3rd chapter – “GTO in Detail” uses words and photographs to reveal everything under the car’s magnificent looking skin. The 4th chapter – “The 250 GTOs Car by Car” portrays each car’s racing and ownership history. Supplementing the text are current and period photographs, and some great historical notes. The 5th chapter – “The 4-Litre Cousins” discusses the three 330 GTOs and the four 330 LMBs with a car-by-car analysis.
