Description
This is a fabulous French Officer's Cuirassier Helmet and Cuirass Set M. 1872 which includes the original Gilet padding as well as a wooden stand making it ready for immediate set-up to enjoy! The Helmet is constructed with an all metal body with beautiful gold washed brass fittings which are adorned with the French "flaming bomb" and the face of Medusa. There is a little flaking to the plating and the leather inner liner shows age, nevertheless is present and the body overall remains very nice with no dings. The black horse hair tail remains healthy and intact as does the lovely original red “marmouset”. The Cuirass has also survived in very nice original condition and is beautifully fitted as well. The outer leather belt is a replacement. The original Gilet remains very healthy also with just a little minor mothing at the base. The wooden stand is extremely well built and is a wonderful addition for a good sturdy display. Effective as of 1-1-07 bids welcomed only from established bidders with (10) or more feed backs.
