Description
OK This is the best phonographic Christmas gift you could five- a near MINT copy of the Edison Diamond Disc Holiday Greetings from the Bunch at Orange with original sleeve. I have seen several of these over the years but not in this condition. It was issued only once in the fall of 1924 and was sent to Edison dealers as an audio Christmas card and was never made available to the public. Phonograph sales were in decline. In order to boost the spirits of their dealers, the various managers of the Edison phonograph division each recorded a brief message of Holiday wishes, and other messages of surprising candor and optimistic good cheer. I played it through once and it sounds just like you would expect- some speeches very good, others not very confident. Thomas Edison was 77 years old at this time and this was only the second time he actually recorded his own voice, the first being a cylinder, Let Us Not Forget. Charles Edison, his son also has a speech on here. The festive sleeve has drawings of each of the managers as well at Charles and Thomas Edison(see pics). The sleeve itself is a rarity and in surprisingly good condition. The record has a mirror-like finish with just the slightest marks from storage? No scratches or anything like that. I don’t think you could find one better. Buyer pays SHI.
