This handsome Art Deco cocktail set consists of a large chromed martini/cocktail shaker with wooden finial and handle, plus four cocktail cups, each with a chrome top and a turned wooden foot that features a cool 'stacked' motif . (The dark wood on these pieces appears to be walnut, but we aren't experts in that field.) The shaker is 12 3/4" tall overall, and the dark wood handle has vertical ribs along its edge and 'stacked' horizontal ribs on the finial up top. The marks on the underside of the shaker read 'FARBERWARE' in a half-circle and 'BROOKLYN, N.Y.'; there are no marks on the cups. Each cup measures 2 7/8" tall and just a bit over 3" across the top rim, with a capacity of four ounces. This set is probably from the 1930s - sometime soon after the repeal of prohibition, when many US companies were making bar items utilizing both chrome and wood. ( Please note that there are numerous reflections throughout the chrome areas shown in our pix. ) The next pic shows the components of the shaker separately. Note the DECO rings in several locations: Where the top of the handle attaches to the base, at the bottom of the body above the foot, on the foot, and on the spout just below the screw-off cap. There are no dents, breaks, chips or other damage to the five parts of this cocktail set. Signs of use include surface scratches on the shaker (not thru the chrome, but more extensive than usual on one side) and to the interior of the cups; all of these will improve greatly with a professional buffing - if that's what the new owner would like to do.
