These were purchased by my parents in 1988 at Joneil New York, New York on Fifth Avenue. She has the original receipt also which she is sending to me to include in the auction. My mother has given them to us to sell as they have two pairs and these have been wrapped up in boxes in the attic for years unused. We have a baby on the way in a few weeks and we're cleaning out our house and theirs for items we just don't use or need in order to get prepared for baby! We wanted to go and get these appraised again before selling as I'm somewhat sick about selling them for so little, but I just don't have the time (or the energy!) to do so. So here is an opportunity to get a BEAUTIFUL and VALUABLE collector's piece made from real elephant ivory with tons of detail! They are hand carved with artist markings on the bottom. My mother thinks they are from early 1900's. They have much more detail than anyone of the ones I have seen on the internet. They are also not as yellowed as most I've seen.
