Description Casper Heil Pre-Pro Beer Tray Burlington, Iowa   Ultra Rare Casper Heil Pre-Pro Beer Tray from Burlington, Iowa. Picked up from a collector who has had it in a box wrapped in newspaper since 1975! (I have the newspaper and will include it in the box with tray) Great tray in excellent condition. Has a small hard to read signature in bottom left corner that appears to read "Alice Hirschlog"? Also has "copyrighted 1909 by The Meek Company" and in larger print in the bottom center "SUNSHINE". "101" in bottom right corner.   There are some dings on the outer rim and a couple areas where the paint has come off (Top left and bottom left edges) and a very very small dent in bottom right edge that I just now noticed. Picture it self is absolutely beautiful with a slight bit of crazing and a couple of flecks. None of which detracts from this stunning tray!   I found a blurb online from a Iowa Newspaper "The Hawk Eye" that says the following about the brewery...... "There was Charles Mueller who started what may have been the town's first brewery in 1849 at 869 Jefferson St. After moving through a series of owners, the plant was taken over by Casper Heil in 1872 and prospered ubtil 1888 when one of Iowa's many sojurns in prohibition closed it. Casper came back in 1893 when the booze ban was rescinded and opened the Burlington Brewery that later became the Casper Heil Brewing Company. Old beer bottles bearing that company's logo are highly prized by collectors, but that is about all that remains of Heil Brewing. It shuttered for keeps in 1917, when Iowa got a two year jump on the national Prohibition, and the site of the old brewery is now a parking lot." I accept PayPal and money orders only.
