CARL BARKS original oil painting "Bullet Valley" Start Price USD 125,000.00 Current Price USD 125,000.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, July 22, 2008 End Time Friday, August 01, 2008 Location San Francisco, CA See more about 'CARL BARKS original oil painting "Bullet Valley" ' Description ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING  by Carl Barks (1901 – 2000).  14 x 18 inches on Canvas.  Although Carl painted 17 Money Bins between 1971 and 1976, by far his MOST POPULAR paintings were reproductions of his DONALD DUCK comic book covers, which he did 30 times!  This auction offers one of Carl’s rarest oils for bid, but all bidders must be pre-approved by the Seller, and the item is subject to prior sale.            “Sheriff of Bullet Valley”  (16-71)  re-creates the cover of 4C #199,  and was  only the 4th duck oil that Carl ever painted!  I believe that it’s also the ONLY  painting he ever did that was dated on the FRONT  (“1971” on lower left corner).  After not being satisfied with the background on his first attempt at Bullet Valley  (15-71), Carl was intrigued by the “Fire Sky” background that he saw on the cover  of a Dell comic book  (Tonto #11).  So he copied the idea, and the best version of “Bullet Valley” was painted!   It’s been in a private collection for over 30 years!
