This collection came from the estate of a late U. Minnesota professor. They were found by his family in an attic clean out. Research documented the connection between the professor and the late Dr. Washburn. (Verifiable emails will be provided to the high bidder). These are a collection of Washburn Magic Lantern slides spanning many years. Brad used these as part of a traveling lecture he used to raise funds for his research, expeditions, and the Boston Museum of Science. Brad Washburn and I had a mutual interest in the Mount Washington Observatory. I got to know him through the Observatory and many Obs fundraisers that he and his wife Barbara attended, donated pictures to, and / or was keynote speaker. At one of these functions in Boston three years of so ago, he told me about the slides, and even autographed one along with Barbara. Most of the slides are from his early Alaska expeditions, but there are a number of Grand Canyon slides also. The slides show degradation on several, but are historically important to mountaineers, photographers, and historians. These are being sold as historical items, and may not be reproduced.  Brad wrote the handwritten notes on the slide labels. These are being sold with the clear understanding that they are a collectible, and have great historical value, but they may NOT be reproduced. The photos of the slides were taken without proper backlighting, but show both the beauty and flaws of each. As a collection, they represent an incredible historical archive.
