Lee Hirsche Religion Prev Stop Play Next Description This auction is for this huge sculpture is the work of the late artist H. Lee Hirsche.  H. Lee Hirsche is the founder of the studio art program at Williams College in 1958, Hirsche retired early to pursue his passion for art. His works are in museums and private collections around the world.   The Crucifix is a mixed media piece of artwork.  The cross is fashioned from ancient ship timbers that Lee dragged out of the ocean at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut, USA.  The Christ figure is formed of materials including steel wool and epoxy, finished with shellac.  The overall dimensions are 11’4” tall, 6’ wide with a projection of 19”.  It is intended for interior display.  The current owner has moved into a smaller house and is forced to sell this wonderful sculpture by her dear friend and mentor.
