Description
offered is a fabulous 1930's art deco machine age ronson "streamline" automatic touchtip lighter in original box. the chrome plated lighter features a black lacquer finish and streamline ribbed speed line airflow body design. the streamline touchtip was first designed in 1937 by louis v aronson and is one of the most important deco items of the 1930's. the streamline which comes in a few colorways and finishes is featured in many art deco books. it is highlighted in the ronson book as figure 161 with a value of $150-400 without the box. streamline touchtip boxes are extremely rare and missing from many serious ronson collections. the box is marked on top - ronson streamlined touch tip. the ronson touchtip mechanism was first invented in 1934 by louis v aronson - considered the most important lighter inventor of the 20th century. the ronson measures 3-3/4" tall x 4-1/4" wide and is in very good used condition. the mechanism throws a spark and should work with proper service of fuel.- flint and new wick. there are some lite typical use nicks [and one lite scratch] on chrome that slightly detract. the lighter will also clean to look better. overall - an important vintage 1930's art deco enamel ronson "streamline" touchtip table lighter in original box for your collection. the photos are reflective and the ronson looks better in person with rich chrome coloring. insurance optional.-overseas is first class and ship to italy is express mail only.
