Description
An old plantation in Louisiana sold wares out of slave quarters (-turned shop?) and among the products that were supposed to be like the products produced on the plantation before slavery was outlawed were rag rugs. This lot is for three of them: 37 x 23, 33 x 22 and 33 x 22. All three were made by Acadian Handicrafts Louisiana, but only one of the rugs still has its label, which was loosely tacked on and thus easily lost. I think if I recall from long-ago research that Acadian signified the Cajuns who came to New Orleans from Nova Scotia? Anyway, two of the rugs are in pretty much perfect condition. One needs to be mended where its threads holding the rag fabrics together has come loose. It should be do-able for someone who does this kind of work. We believe the rugs were purchased in 1960.
