dredrkt Store PURCHASING THIS ITEM CONSTITUTES A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT!ONLY SERIOUS BUYERS PLEASE!LOOK AT THE PICTURES, READ THE DESCRIPTION, AND PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS FIRST! **THE PICTURES** FRESH FROM SOUTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS ESTATE!DUE TO VACATION, THIS LISTING WILL BE REMOVED ON DECEMBER 14, 2008. I am pleased to offer this sweet little Holt Howard Jam 'n Jelly Pixieware jar. The condiment jars were the first Pixieware pieces introduced by Holt Howard in 1958. They were the Mustard, Ketchup, and the Jam 'n Jelly pots. They were introduced as fun characters for the table or buffet and they proved to be very popular and now extremely collectible. Holt Howard called the little attached spoons "spoofy spoons" meaning "hidden" and hidden they are, right inside each jar.CONDITION: Excellent, no dings, no chips, no cracks. The usual light overall glaze crazing is evident.SIZE: 5-1/2" tall x approximately 4" wide.Marked 1958 on the bottom, so this is a first year issue, and most of the black and silver tag is still attached. This little Pixie Ware cutie is pictured on page 16 in the book, "Holt-Howard Collectibles and Related Ceramicwares of the '50's & '60's" by Walter Dworkin.Ready to use or display.A WORD ABOUT GENERAL CONDITION OF POTTERY: Vintage pottery may include bottom wear, surface wear, glaze misses and pops, pattern irregularities, mold marks and irregularities in glazes.
