1953 MAGIDSON BROS AFRICAN DRUMMER MAN STATUE FIGURINE Start Price USD 175.00 Current Price USD 175.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 200.00 Reserve Price - Start Time Thursday, August 21, 2008 End Time Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Location Lincolnton, NC See more about '1953 MAGIDSON BROS AFRICAN DRUMMER MAN STATUE FIGURINE ' Description This statue is just over 18" tall.  At the widest points it is approximately 8" wide.  I'm not sure what it's made of.  I'm thinking either chalkware or plaster.  It doesn't feel like ceramic.  The lower back side is marked "1953 MAGIDSON BROS, CHICAGO  ILL  25".   I'm pretty sure that number is 25, and I don't know what it means.  I don't see any cracks in the structure.  There are a few small chips.  There is a lot of flaking paint.  The black paint is almost completely gone from his right foot.  There are places where the black paint looks like it is crackling.  This is dirty.  There are paint flakes hanging on by cob webs.  Please look closely at the pictures.  If you want more pics I can email them to you .  Overall for its age, I think this is in good vintage condition. I have googled and goggled this, and after days I was able to locate only one other.  I think these are rare,  The only info I could find on the Magidson Bros was a patent listing using the adobe reader, and I couldn't make out what it said.  I looked at the name on this a hundred times thinking it had to be madison, or m a gidson, or some other version of these letters.  I'm convinced it says Magidson and I can't find anything readable on them.
