UPDATED INFORMATION:  AUGUST 21st:  UPON CLOSER INSPECTION I FOUND THE WHEELS OF THE LOCOMOTIVE ARE EMBOSSED WITH THE FOLLOWING LARGE LETTERS: "B L CO".  THIS CONFIRMS THAT THIS IS A "BROOKVILLE LOCOMOTIVE COMPANY" TRAIN ENGINE.  Note: The green passenger car shown in the photo is not included in this listing.I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING GOLD MINING MEMORABILIA AND EQUIPMENT FOR OVER 40 YEARS.  I RECENTLY COMPLETED A MINING DISPLAY ON MY PROPERTY, AND I WILL BE SELLING ALL THE ITEMS THAT WOULD NOT FIT IN MY DISPLAY.  I WILL BE LISTING A WIDE VARIETY OF MINING EQUIPMENT.  THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS I WILL BE SELLING: ORE SKIPS, ORE CAR, HYDRAULIC MONITORS, MINE RAIL FROGS AND SWITCHES, HEADFRAME WHEELS, ASSAY OFFICE ORE GRINDER, ORE CAR AND PARK TRAIN WHEELS AND AXLES, HUGE CARBIDE GAS GENERATOR, COMPRESSED AIR DRILLS AND BITS, TRAM CAR, ORE BUCKET, ORE BIN WHEEL, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS GOLD MINING EQUIPMENT. I COLLECT A LOT OF ITEMS BUT I DON'T PRETEND TO BE AN EXPERT ON ANY OF THEM.  PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.THIS LISTING IS FOR A FULLY OPERATIONAL GAS/MECHANICAL MINING LOCOMOTIVE.  MEASUREMENTS:  LENGTH: 10' FROM THE FRONT EDGE OF THE FORWARD RUNNING BOARD TO THE REAR EDGE OF THE REAR RUNNING BOARDROOF: 4'8" WIDEWHEELS: APPROXIMATELY 19" DIAMETER (THE WHEEL IS MEASURED WHERE IT SITS ON THE TRACK--NOT THE FLANGE) AND 3" WIDE (THE PART THAT SITS ON THE TRACK)HEIGHT: 6' 4" FROM THE TOP OF THE RAIL TO THE TOP OF THE ROOFENGINEER'S COMPARTMENT: 4' 2" WIDE AND 3' 9" LONGORIGINALLY THE TRAIN ENGINE WAS USED IN THE MINES OF COPPEROPOLIS, CA.  IT WAS STORED FOR YEARS BEFORE I PURCHASED IT.  I HAD IT HAULED TO MY MECHANIC WHERE IT SAT IN HIS SHOP FOR MONTHS WHILE HE WENT THROUGH THE ENTIRE LOCOMOTIVE, RETURNING IT TO A FULL OPERATIONAL STATUS.  HE INSTALLED A NEW HEAD ON THE ENGINE, BUILT A NEW GAS TANK, INSTALLED A HEATER, ETC.  THE REPAIR BILL WAS $3,800!  I AM LISTING THE ENGINE FOR EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE IN IT: $7,800.  IT IS WORTH FAR, FAR MORE THAN THE STARTING LISTING PRICE.  THERE IS NO RESERVE.  THE ENGINE HAS BEEN PARKED ON A RAILROAD SIDING IN MY BARN FOR FOUR YEARS.  IT TURNS OUT THAT AFTER IT WAS DELIVERED, I DISCOVERED THAT THE WHEELS AND FLANGES ARE SO LARGE THAT THEY WON'T FIT THROUGH THE FROGS ON MY SWITCHES.  I HAVE AN 18" GAUGE RAILROAD INSTALLED ON MY PROPERTY, AND NOW I USE MY SMALLER ENGINE.  THE GREEN RAILROAD PASSENGER CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING. ENGINES LIKE THIS ARE RARELY FOUND OUTSIDE OF MUSEUMS, AND MOST OF THE MUSEUM ENGINES ARE NOT OPERATIONAL.  THIS IS ONE OF A KIND!I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FROM A MEMBER OF THE eBay COMMUNITY ON AUGUST 15th ABOUT THE LOCOMOTIVE:BROOKVILLE MODEL TBC/N 1206 - 3/24/1928 B 18" 2T GAS/MECHSOLD THROUGH - DON PEAKE (DEALER) OAKLAND, CAFrom everything I have learned about the locomotive from the people I bought it from years ago, it was modified over the years by the mechanics at the mine in Copperopolis, CA.  As was fairly common in the old machine shops, they used what they had available to keep equipment running.    The wheels and undercarriage are so heavy and well made, it seems like the engine started out as factory produced, but was modified over the years, ending up with the 1950's Studebaker engine. THIS ENGINE WAS DESIGNED TO HAUL LONG LINES OF ORE CARS FROM DEEP IN A MINE.  THAT IS WHY IT IS SO HEAVY AND THE WHEELS SO LARGE.  I WAS TOLD THAT THE LOCOMOTIVE HAS GONE THROUGH MANY TRANSFORMATIONS OVER THE YEARS.  IT IS CURRENTLY POWERED BY A 1950 STUDEBAKER ENGINE. IT HAS LOTS OF POWER, SO I HAVE NEVER TAKEN IT OUT OF FIRST GEAR.  I HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT THE ENGINE LAST WEEK TO TELL ME WHAT HE COULD, SINCE I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ENGINES.  I WAS TOLD IT HAS A MODEL T DIFFERENTIAL (SEE PHOTO #10), A BORG-WARNER MUNCIE T9 TRANSMISSION (SEE PHOTO #11), AND A CATERPILLAR RADIATOR. I CAN'T GUARANTEE  ALL THIS INFORMATION, IT IS JUST WHAT PEOPLE TOLD ME.  YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME AND INSPECT THE ENGINE PRIOR TO BIDDING.  I OWN A TRAIN, BUT I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT.  I HAVE PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT THE LOCOMOTIVE AS BEST I CAN.  IT IS BEING SOLD AS, WHERE IS.HERE ARE A FEW THINGS I DO KNOW ABOUT THE LOCOMOTIVE:1.  PHOTO #6 SHOWS THE CONTROLS.  YOU TURN THE KEY, PUMP THE GAS (THE HANDLE STICKING OUT ABOVE THE THREE GAUGES, AND PUSH THE STARTER BUTTON.  IT STARTS INSTANTLY.2.  PHOTO # 7 SHOWS THE CLUTCH.  YOU  PUSH FORWARD WITH YOUR FOOT, SHIFT THE GEAR, AND LET OUT THE CLUTCH...AND YOU ARE HEADING DOWN THE TRACK.  I BELIEVE IT IS A THREE SPEED, BUT I HAVE ONLY USED FIRST.3.  PHOTO #8  THIS PHOTO SHOWS A WALL MOUNTED CONTAINER THAT I WAS TOLD WAS FOR OIL TO FLOW DOWN THE FOUR HOSES FOR OILING WHATEVER.  BELOW THAT IS A CAR HEATER THAT I HAD INSTALLED FOR COLD WINTER DAYS.4.  PHOTO #4  THIS PHOTO SHOWS THE COMPRESSED AIR WHISTLE, AND BOY IS IT EVER LOUD!!!  IN PHOTO #2 YOU CAN SEE THE LONG COMPRESSED AIR TANK ON THE SIDE OF THE LOCOMOTIVE NEAR THE FRONT BELOW THE ENGINE.  THERE IS A MATCHING AIR TANK ON THE OTHER SIDE.  THEY BOTH WORK AND STORE A LOT OF AIR WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.5.  PHOTO #2 & #3 SHOW THE RUNNING BOARDS ON THE LOCOMOTIVE.  THERE IS ONE ON EITHER SIDE BELOW THE HOOD OF THE ENGINE, ONE ON THE FRONT, AND ONE ON THE BACK.  BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK HAVE HANDLES FOR PEOPLE TO HANG ONTO (PAINTED RED IN THE PHOTOS).6.  PHOTO #9 SHOWS THE 1950 STUDEBAKER ENGINE.  THE GAS TANK, WHICH IS NEW, IS INSTALLED ABOVE THE ENGINE OUT OF SIGHT.  MY MECHANIC WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE ENGINE, INSTALLING A NEW HEAD, HOSES, WIRING, ETC....ANYTHING THAT NEED FIXING OR REPLACING HE FIXED OR REPLACED (LIKE I SAID--$3,800 WORTH OF REPAIRS)!  7.  PHOTO #6 & #7 SHOW THE TWO SEATS, ONE FOR THE ENGINEER AND ONE FOR A PASSENGER.8.  PHOTO # 6 SHOWS THE ENGINEER'S CONTROLS.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE ALL FOR.  IT LOOKS LIKE A BRAKE, AIR CONTROLS, ETC.  SINCE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM, I CAN'T ASSURE YOU OF THEIR PURPOSE OR WHETHER THEY WORK.  ALL I NEEDED WAS THE STARTER, CLUTCH AND GEAR SHIFT AND I WAS OFF DOWN THE TRACK.9.  PHOTOS #2 AND #3 SHOW THE LIGHTS.  THEY LIGHT UP THE NIGHT.  ONE HEADLIGHT FACES TO THE FRONT AND ONE TO THE REAR (IN PHOTO #3 IT IS IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER).10.  PHOTOS #2 & #3 SHOW THE PINS AND SLOTS WHERE CARS CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE REAR OR FRONT OF THE TRAIN.  IN ORDER TO USE THEM, THE RUNNING BOARDS NEED TO BE REMOVED.11.  PHOTO #1 SHOW THE WINDOWS ON THE ENGINE.  THERE ARE TWO SLIDING WINDOWS ON EITHER SIDE, TWO NEAR THE ENGINEER AND TWO NEAR THE PASSENGER SEAT.  THEY HAVE WOOD FRAMES AND COULD USE A GOOD COAT OF PAINT.  12.  PHOTOS #10, #11 AND #12 SHOW THE TWO VERY HEAVY CHAINS THAT DRIVE THE WHEELS.13.  THE FLOOR OF THE ENGINEERS COMPARTMENT IS CURRENTLY 3/4" PINE.  IT IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE METAL FLOOR BRACES SO IT CAN BE REMOVED FOR SERVICING THE UNDERCARRIAGE.  ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE IS VERY HEAVY, IT IS EASY TO LOAD.  I HAD THE LOCAL CSAA TOW TRUCK DRIVER BACK UP TO THE SIDING, TIP THE BED DOWN ON THE TRACK, AND WINCH THE ENGINE ONTO THE TRUCK BED.  AFTER TILTING IT BACK, WE THEN MOVED THE ENGINE ONTO A SMALL TRUCK BED FOR TRANSPORT.  UNFORTUNATELY, I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH THE ENGINE WEIGHS, BUT IT IS VERY, VERY HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE!!I'M SURE THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS ABOUT THE LOCOMOTIVE THAT I FORGOT TO INCLUDE.  IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR CLOSE UP PHOTOS OF ANY PART OF THE LOCOMOTIVE, PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR REQUESTS.
